Milton’s Hushpuppies

1 cup self-rising cornmeal

1 cut self-rising flour

1 tablespoon black pepper

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon red pepper (optional)

1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

3 eggs

3/4 cup milk (more if needed)

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup chopped onions

1/2 cup chopped bell pepper

1/2 cup chopped green onions

2 tablespoons sugar

1 can whole kernel corn (drained)

Mix all ingredients together to a thick consistency. Drop by full teaspoon into hot oil. Remove when golden brown. Drain on paper towel. Serve hot.
